100 Solar Schools

There is a high risk of power outages in Ukrainian schools and absence of alternative energy sources. Consequently, there needs to be more possibility to study in comfortable conditions.

A rooftop solar power plant is an effective solution for restoring the electricity supply.

Energy Act for Ukraine started the "100SolarSchools" project to provide electricity to 100 schools affected by the war in Ukraine's de-occupied or frontline zones. The foundation installs solar stations with electricity storage systems with capacities of 10-30 kW, depending on the school's needs.

This solution allows to:

  • to guarantee an autonomous supply of electricity to the school

  • to cover 20 - 50% of the annual electricity consumption of the school

  • ensure a backup power supply without electricity for about 3-5 hours.

The 100SolarSchools campaign is also intended to promote green energy education. The Foundation and experts on sustainability are already providing a series of facultative lessons on sustainability and renewable energy sources – the” Sustainable Development” course.

The cost of 1 (one) school - 20 kW solar power plant with electricity storage systems is 50,000 EUR.

Energy Act for Ukraine aims to equip 100 schools in Ukraine with solar power plants within the next 5 years.
