Empowering Resilience: Financing Renewable Energy in Ukrainian Communities

Organisers: NGO Ecoclub, Centre for Environmental Initiatives “Ecoaction”, CEE Bankwatch

Format: online

Russia's invasion of Ukraine is causing enormous damage to the energy infrastructure. Residents of Ukrainian municipalities are affected, and communities are trying to restore basic services (electricity, water and heat) and prepare for the upcoming heating season. The energy security of communities is important, and implemented renewable energy projects for utilities can help. Communities also need funding, so it is necessary to create sustainable support mechanisms for such projects.

At the webinar, speakers will:
- present the results of the study ‘Financing of Renewable Energy Projects in Ukrainian Municipalities’,
- share the experience of municipalities in implementing recovery projects, in particular in the field of renewable energy,
- discuss the challenges and opportunities faced by municipalities, and talk about the availability of resources for reconstruction,
- present a vision of how renewable energy projects should be financed, and provide a list of ideas for implementing such projects.

Language of the event: English (with translation into Ukrainian).
